Fiskardo is a picturesque village in the northern part of Kefalonia. It links the island, by boat to Lefkas, Ithaca and Astakos. Fiskardo is the only village that remained virtually intact after the earthquake of 1953 and so it has kept the traditional architecture of the island. The area was declared a historical site and preserved as such giving the impression that time has stopped. It is one of the most cosmopolitan parts of the island with celebrities both Greek and foreign visiting the area. The large marina accommodates many boats and Yachts. And there is the chance to explore the beaches around that are only accessible by boat. A quaint village with many shops, taverns and bars all within walking distance make this place a popular destination.
This building dates back to 1768 when it was first built and was renovated in 2003. We kept the exterior stone walls so we managed to achieve a natural
insulation to the house so it stays cool in the summer and warm in the
winter. Outside the house you may still see the stonebuilt "linos" and
"podohi" where the grapes were pressed to make the house wine.. Inside
the kitchen there is still the old stone-oven where housewives used to
cook with woods and in the living room the old fireplace. The house
consists of two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom and an attic
which upon request could be another bedroom for 2. The villa as it is
can easily accommodate up to 5 people as the sofa in the lounge turns
into a bed. One of the bedrooms has a double iron bed and the other one
twin beds. The bedrooms have wardrobes and ceiling fans, although their
use would be rather limited because of the good temperature the house
has. In the kitchen there is a cooker with oven, fridge - freezer,
microwave, washing machine, toaster, kettle and all utensils necessary
in everyday life of a family. The living room has a satellite TV and dvd
player. Both indoors and outdoors there is wireless internet
connection while in the living room could be with cable as well. In the
surroundings we tried to provide you safety and privacy with a gate
and a private parking for 2 vehicles. On the stonebuilt yards, guests
are able to relax under the cool shade of the old olive trees as there
are bamboo armchairs and a wooden swing beside the traditional water
tank.
